Introduction

Metal, the central material of my work, represents the essence of civilization, built upon the history of struggle for ideals. The rough textures created by the grinding machine metaphorically depict life’s defiance against fate. Deeply etched overlapping scratches imply an emptiness of thought in pursuit of encountering the fiery clash between life and ideals. Life is intense, growing through reflection and enlightenment. My work portrays humanity’s journey toward transcendence and overcoming imperfection through images of light. It also pays homage to human existence, projecting life and honoring its splendid yet fragile nature.

<Burnt Struggles Toward Ideals> is a process of emptying thoughts and an experiment in seeking the essence of ideals. It critiques the subjective representations of ideals held by individuals, regarding them not as attainable goals but as products of turmoil born within, causing confusion. The chaotic scratches scattered in all directions embody this concept. The process of grinding steel plates alongside paint represents a cleansing of worldly stains. The exposed, luminous surface of raw metal is a testament to self-consumption and the introspective journey toward the beyond.
