지금 세계가 마주하는 ‘K-Art’는 단색화의 미학적 성취를 중요한 기반으로 삼으면서도, 그 고요함만으로는 더 이상 설명되지 않는다. 오늘의 한국 동시대 미술은 회화부터 사진, 디지털 미디어, 스트리트, 브랜딩의 경계를 능동적으로 오가며, 장르를 ‘분류’하는 것에 국한하지 않고 ‘사용’하는 방식으로 확장되고 있다.
이번 전시는 그 확장의 한 단면을 보여주기 위해, 같은 순간을 공유하며 서로 다른 표정을 드러내는 6인의 작가를
‘규정되지 않은 내면의 풍경’이라는 키워드로 묶는다.
싱가포르는 아시아의 문화·경제·관광이 교차하는 도시 국가이자, 이미지와 취향이 빠르게 유통되는 국제 허브다.
그리고 센토사는 육지에서 분리된 섬이라는 지리적 특성만큼이나, ‘이동’과 ‘도착’의 감각을 상징하는 장소이기도 하다.
서울에서 발생한 감각의 파동이 바다를 건너 이곳에 닿을 때, 우리는 ‘한국성’을 고정된 스타일로 설명하기보다 동시대적 에너지의 리듬으로 경험하게 된다. 이번 전시는 바로 그 리듬 – 전통과 대중문화, 순수예술과 상업예술, 실재와 가상이 동시에 겹쳐지는 한국의 속도 – 을 싱가포르의 관객에게 전달하는 하나의 '순간'이 되고자 한다.
The “K-Art” that the world encounters today takes the aesthetic achievements of Dansaekhwa as an important foundation, yet it can no longer be explained by that quietude alone.
Contemporary Korean art today actively traverses the boundaries between painting, photography, digital media, street culture, and branding. Rather than limiting itself to classifying genres, it expands by using them.
This exhibition presents one facet of that expansion by bringing together six artists who share the same moment in time yet reveal distinctly different expressions, under the keyword “Uncodified Inner-scapes.”
Singapore is a city-state where culture, economy, and tourism intersect across Asia, and an international hub where images and tastes circulate at remarkable speed. Sentosa, in particular, is a place that symbolizes the sensations of “movement” and “arrival,” as much as its geographical identity as an island separated from the mainland.
When waves of sensibility generated in Seoul cross the sea and arrive here, “Koreanness” is experienced not as a fixed style but as a rhythm of contemporary energy. This exhibition seeks to become one such moment for Singaporean audiences—conveying that rhythm: the speed of Korea, where tradition and popular culture, fine art and commercial art, reality and the virtual simultaneously overlap.
