APY Gallery

2-PERSON EXHIBITION
July 09, 2026 - August 14, 2026

The exhibition <자연과 인간: 그 무한한 호흡의 기록> explores the invisible order of the world and the existential condition of human beings breathing within it through the essential language of Drawing.

As in the Eastern theory of painting, ‘기운생동(氣韻生動)’, drawing in this exhibition is not a reproduction of form, but an embodied trace left behind as the breath of the invisible world responds to the human being. Here, two entirely different trajectories of drawing, each confronting the world in its own way, intersect.

Woo Jongtaek draws upon the Eastern structure of ‘이형사신(以形寫神)’, allowing the unseen energy of the earth to erupt through his body as a passage.

The heavy, rough brushstrokes born from the collision between the vitality of nature and the artist’s breath do not simply “depict” abstraction. They are the record of a powerful existential event, in which the spiritual breath of life proves itself through the materiality of the body and the brushstroke.

By contrast, Eellos traces the uncertainty of existence within a world where the boundary between the virtual and the real has collapsed — on the “Second Orbit,” an orbit that has lost its center.

The repeated act of drawing coordinates with graphite and erasing them with an eraser defines existence as a state that repeatedly disappears and remains. The imperfect circles, exposing the tremors and errors of the hand, resemble receipts of fragile human existence left behind in the virtual world.

If Woo Jongtaek’s drawing is a “full breath” that releases the energy of the earth, Eellos’s drawing is an “emptying breath” that attempts to locate itself within a virtual universe where all coordinates have vanished.

In the space where this macroscopic energy and microscopic vibration intersect, viewers encounter the twofold nature of existence.

The rough brushstrokes and erased lines inscribed on paper and canvas invite us to reconsider the fundamental value of human existence within the order of disappearance and creation.
