APY Gallery는 2024 KIAF에 일본 SNOW Contemporary와의 협업 부스로 참여하며, 한국과 일본을 중심으로 한 동시대 작가들의 다층적인 조형 언어를 소개했다. 본 프로젝트는 아시아 현대미술의 흐름 속에서 서로 다른 문화적 배경과 작업 방식을 가진 작가들을 연결하는 국제 교류의 일환으로 기획되었다.
이번 협업에는 데이비드 스텐백(David Stenbeck), 하지원(Ha Ji-won), 코레히코 히노(Korehiko Hino), 슈 유네자와(Shu Yonezawa), 요스케 아나미야(Yosuke Amemiya) 등 총 5인의 작가가 참여했다. 회화, 조각, 디지털 기반 작업까지 다양한 매체를 아우르는 작품들은 각자의 감각과 서사를 통해 동시대 미술의 폭넓은 스펙트럼을 드러냈다.
파트너 갤러리인 SNOW Contemporary는 2010년 도쿄와 싱가포르에서 작가 매니지먼트 오피스로 출발해, 2016년 도쿄 니시아자부로 갤러리를 이전하며 본격적인 전시 공간을 확장했다. 스트리트 아트부터 퍼포먼스, 개념 예술에 이르기까지 실험적이고 동시대적인 전시를 지속적으로 선보이며, 갤러리 공간을 넘어 다양한 장소 기반 프로젝트를 통해 새로운 세대의 예술가들을 소개하고 있다.
APY Gallery는 이번 KIAF 협업을 통해 아시아 현대미술 네트워크 안에서의 연결 가능성을 확장하고, 작가 중심의 국제 플랫폼으로서 지속적인 교류와 협업을 이어가고자 한다.
APY Gallery participated in KIAF 2024 in collaboration with SNOW Contemporary (Japan), presenting a curated selection of contemporary artists from Korea and Japan. This joint project was conceived as part of an ongoing international exchange, bringing together diverse artistic practices and cultural perspectives within the broader context of Asian contemporary art.
The presentation featured works by David Stenbeck, Eellos, Ha Ji-won, Kim Ji-hoon, Korehiko Hino, Shu Yonezawa, and Yosuke Amemiya. Spanning painting, sculpture, and digital-based practices, the exhibition highlighted a wide spectrum of contemporary expression, revealing each artist’s distinct visual language and conceptual approach.
Founded in 2010 as an artist management office in Tokyo and Singapore, SNOW Contemporary relocated its gallery space to Nishi-Azabu, Tokyo in 2016. Since then, it has presented a range of cutting-edge exhibitions encompassing street art, performance, and conceptual practices. Beyond its gallery program, SNOW Contemporary actively develops curatorial projects across various sites, introducing emerging and established artists who are shaping new directions in contemporary art.
Through this collaboration at KIAF 2024, APY Gallery continued to expand its international network and reinforce its commitment to building artist-centered platforms that foster cross-cultural dialogue and sustained global engagement.
